Friends of the Groom coming to St. Thomas in February 2008

February 15-17, 2008 McCaslin Christian Life Conference

Bringing the Bible Alive

Thought-provoking, original Christian drama comes to St. Thomas Episcopal Church for the 2008 McCaslin Christian Life Conference with the appearance of Friends of the Groom, a nationally-known theater group founded 25 years ago by Tom Long, the group's director, playwright, and chief storyteller. Committed to proclaiming the Christian message with a unique blend of humor, story, and challenging content, this award-winning, inter-denominational group of adult performers travels to congregations around the country using drama to build Christian community and to inspire individual faith. The group's name refers to the image of Christ as the bridegroom in the New Testament.

Alston Jones (Jay) McCaslin V

Alston Jones McCaslin V- Jay to his friends - was instrumental in conceiving and coordinating our first Christian Life Conference in 2005, A Day And A Night With CS Lewis, featuring Dr. Louis Markos. Jay's vision for bringing quality speakers to spiritually benefit our parishioners and the larger community in Savannah  and beyond continued in 2006 and 2007 as we welcomed Margaret Edson (author of Wit) and Brennan Manning (The Ragamuffin Gospel, one book among many).

We are so grateful for Jay's vision, and we continue to grieve his untimely death in November, 2006. In February 2007, the St. Thomas Vestry voted unanimously to name our conference in honor of Jay, The McCaslin Christian Life Conference at St. Thomas.

In concert with Jay's desire, there has been no fee or charge of any kind to attend the conferences. Your financial gift, for which we'd be most grateful, will help us honor Jay's memory and continue his vision.

Checks should be made out to "St. Thomas Episcopal Church - McCaslin Conference." You can put your contribution into the  alms basin on Sunday, drop it off at the parish office or mail it to:
