What is a
Lector?
In
the Episcopal Church, the
rector may appoint a person to read one or both of
the
Lessons before the Gospel or to lead the
Prayers of the People. Such a person need not be
licensed by the bishop.
What is a Lay
Eucharistic Minister?
A
person endorsed by the rector and licensed by the bishop
to administer the Consecrated
Elements at a Celebration of
Holy
Eucharist. A LEM should normally act under the
direction of a deacon, where there is one, otherwise
under the rector.
What
is a Lay Eucharistic Visitor?
A
person endorsed by the rector and licensed by the bishop
to take the Consecrated Elements in a timely manner
following a Celebration of Holy Eucharist to the sick or
infirm. A LEV should normally act under the direction of
a deacon, where there is one, otherwise under the
rector.
