How We Began at St. Thomas

Episcopalians who resided on the Isle of Hope kept a mission in operation starting before 1859. With the dedication of members like Charles S. Hardee and Anna Elizabeth Roberts (and more recent members), the mission became a parish in 1954.

    The Buildings at St. Thomas

Services were held in the Methodist Episcopal “union” Church until the present chapel was built in 1923 on land donated by Maria Henderson. The main church was built in 1964.  A new parish hall was built and the old parish hall renovated to house our Christian education classes and nursery in 1995. The interior of the main church was beautifully redecorated in 2000. The Chapel is still used for daily Morning Prayer, Healing Services on Wednesday mornings, and for other special programs and occasions.
