ACOLYTES

"A person who assists in worship by performing such functions as carrying the processional cross or crucifix, lighting and extinguishing candles, holding candles at the reading of the Gospel, helping with the collection of the offering, and the presentation of the bread and wine, usually while wearing an alb or other vestment."  from A New Dictionary for Episcopalians, The Rev. John N. Wall, Jr.

At each service acolytes serve our Lord by assisting the celebrant in his/her duties.  Training classes are held periodically throughout the year.  All baptized persons from first grade up (yes, including adults)  are invited and encouraged to serve Christ in this way.
